Mike Strick's work stems from a lifelong fascination with anatomical forms, skeletal structures in particular. He aims to show that beauty can be more than skin deep, inviting the observer to see it in creations that might otherwise be considered disturbing. He views welded steel as a natural progression in media that amalgamates elements of both his small-scale cast metal work and his larger pieces in clay, latex and fibreglass. Recent commissions have involved cybernetic forms that also incorporate custom electronic circuitry and ultraviolet media.
