Kitty started working with metal three years ago. Her main influences are organic and she enjoys taking shapes and forms from nature and creating pieces for the garden. Welded sculpture entails two elements, metal and fire, creating new form. Her aim is to show that art might hold the key to understanding nature- it should provoke or inspire, but most of all enliven and encourage reflection. She works mainly in mild steel as its susceptibility to the effects of time and the elements allows an ever- changing quality to her work. Exposed to the vagaries of the open air, the character of her pieces will develop over time. Kitty is happy to consider small commissions for metal works or mosaic mirrors.
