KNEE HIGH KICKS OFF IN COLLEGE GARDENS
An exhibition of welded steel and mixed-media sculpture entitled "Knee High" kicks off with a private viewing on Wednesday 11 June 2003, supported by established, internationally renowned artist, Cedric Christie.
Works by ten artists will be displayed in the Richmond Business School's gardens, which are at the rear of Richmond Adult Community College's [RACC] Parkshot Centre in Richmond, between Thursday 12 June and Monday 23 June, admission free. Featuring a range of both welded steel and mixed-media pieces, the exhibition is the first by this group of local artists.
Knee high is the name coined by artist / metal worker George Crawford, who set a "knee- high" height restriction on work to be produced under his guidance. Needless to say, these guidelines have rarely been followed by this group of artists, who met on a course at RACC.
During the exhibition, artists will be on hand to discuss the work and provide greater information on their individual pieces.
The exhibition has been sponsored by Richmond Business School, Fays Metals Limited of Acton and C. G. & W. Young Limited, welding machines and consumable suppliers, of Twickenham.
